Secret World volunteer appeal to find owner of dumped kitten

Appeal to find owner of dumped kitten Appeal to find owner of dumped kitten

A VOLUNTEER from an East Huntspill animal rescue charity is appealing for the owner of an abandoned kitten to step forward.

Jane Somerset, volunteer and driver for Secret World, is currently caring for the female kitten, between 12 to 14 weeks old, after she was dumped on the A38 between Highbridge and Burnham.

A similar case occurred two weeks ago, when another delivery driver stopped to examine a shoe box on Bristol Road and found three kittens inside. They have since been re-homed.

Jane, who lives with her ten rescue cats, said: “I fear someone is dumping kittens between Highbridge and Bridgwater.

“People can’t be bothered to get their cats spayed, so they just dump them. The rescue centres are overflowing with animals and cats/kittens.

“I’m currently caring for a kitten which was taken to Quantock Veterinary Hospital after being dumped.

“However, she was found in good condition and I’m sure she’s been well looked after so we think some neighbour who doesn’t like her in their garden may have abducted her and dumped her.

“I intend to keep her but if I do find the true owner and they are heartbroken I will return her.”

The cat is not micro-chipped and has no ID tags.

The incident was reported to Taunton’s RSPCA and Jane is warning people to be vigilant of bags and boxes in lay-bys which may contain abandoned animals. If anyone finds any, take them to the nearest veterinary centre.

IF you are from the Highbridge area and you think Jane may have found your cat, call her on 07912501018.
