A FORMER Holyrood School student had an amazing eight days at the Olympic Games as a groom for Eventing Team Japan.
Matt Glentworth, 27, who also attended Manor Court Primary School, has been working with part of the Japanese team for 18 months, but the highlight came at Greenwich Park last month.
Having started riding aged four, he was taught to ride by Annie Booth and became a member of Cotley Pony Club.
He did work experience with Mary King and Sophie Hawke, and when he left school he went to work with Sophie.
When he turned 21 Matt had the opportunity to work for Angela Tucker near Tetbury in Gloucestershire.
He also worked with Zara Philips for two years.
As well as acting as a groom, Matt also competes and has four horses at Pontispool on Sunday, September 9, with two intermediate horses and Monday, September 10, with two four-year-old horses he is hoping to qualify.
Matt was also seen on TV earlier in the month on Jennifer Saunders’ Back in the Saddle.
Matt’s mum and dad Jenny and John and brother Daniel all still live in the Chard area.
