Friends call in at Crewkerne phone box
7:40pm Tuesday 4th September 2012 in News
THE public phone box at Crewkerne Railway Station has been given a much-needed makeover.
The Friends of Crewkerne Station gave it a long overdue lick of paint, while British Telecom replaced some broken panes of glass.
The volunteers were delighted to inspect the newly-painted phonebox during their weekly Thursday morning get-together at the station.
Other tasks carried out included Robbie Heyd-Smith cleaning the floor of the old pumphouse, Ken Brewis strimming the grassy bank, Brian Wolfe dealing with the planters and Jo Spiteler, Henryk Ploszik and Gail Coleshill digging out the weeds from the storage yard.
The Friends of Crewkerne Station next meet at the Old Stagecoach pub on October 3, but volunteers meet every Thursday morning for everyday tasks. For more details – call Tony Reese on 07967-947335.
