Lopen Mediterranean oil supplier enjoys taste of triumph

SPECIALIST olive oil and Mediterranean products supplier Lefktro is celebrating after scooping 19 gold wins in the prestigious Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste Awards 2012.

The results were announced earlier this month and this new run of awards brings the company’s total of Great Taste Award-winning products to over 30 in just two years.

James Tyler, managing director of Lefktro which is based on the Lopen Business Park in Mill Lane, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won 19 awards, especially as it is only our second year of entering the competition.”

Their latest award winners included artisan olive oils, specialist balsamic vinegars, a fig vincotto, a vermouth vinegar and an Arborio risotto rice all of which had been sourced from producers in Italy, Greece, France and Spain.

The Great Taste Awards are now in their 16th year and are regarded as the Oscars of the food industry.

James added: “For a product to be awarded gold all judges have to be in complete agreement and this means that it was judged to be virtually faultless.

“We received a wonderful range of the comments about our products from the judges.”
