VILLAGERS Nora and Dick Arnold have been celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.

They were married in 1962 at the Methodist Church, in Chard, and family and friends joined them for two celebration events.

One was held in the Peterborough area where they lived for 35 years and the other at their home in Holditch.

Donations in lieu of presents raised £1,385 for Practical Action which works with communities around the world to find practical solutions to the poverty they face.

Both Dick and Nora are actively involved in the church, Rotary Club, the Women’s Institute, various other charitable groups in the area, Chard Light Operatic Society, Gideons, and the Street Pastors.

In their spare time they work and enjoy their large garden.

The original wedding line-up shows Dick and Nora with ushers and best man, John Hussey, Mervyn Hancock, Stanley Hopkins, best man Chris Chater, Michael Saint and David Hocken.

The line-up was recreated during the couple’s golden wedding anniversary celebrations – minus Michael Saint, who is in Australia.
