Barrington village fete marches on despite weather

HORRENDOUS weather conditions last Saturday failed to deter people from enjoying the village fete.

Although outdoor activities were slightly dampened down because of the torrential rain, the fete continued indoors at the village hall.

Members of the Crewkerne-based Phoenix Brass band were situated outside under a gazebo to play during the fete.

Despite the conditions, the fete raised a whopping £2,000 which, together with £300 raised in pre-fete skittles and quiz nights, will be used to support community groups in Barrington.

Although down by a third on the last fete, organisers were delighted to raise such a total considering the weather.

They said more than 300 people visited the fete during the day.
