NURSE Michelle Bell has won an award after colleagues at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton nominated her.
Michelle, of Ilminster, who works on Triscombe Ward at Musgrove, was named July Employee of the Month in the hospital’s in-house award scheme.
She was nominated for her dedication to providing a superb standard of care to patients.
Despite being qualified for less than two years, she has already taken on extra roles and has developed training for staff.
Interim Sister Lorna Brown, who also works on Triscombe Ward, nominated Michelle for the award.
“Michelle is a real asset to the department,” she said. “She has such a positive attitude and puts her heart and soul into everything she does.
“Michelle recently cared for a patient who was anxious about being transferred to a hospice.
“Although her shift had finished, she stayed to hold this lady’s hand and help her relax for another two or three hours.
“Michelle makes a real difference to patients and staff here at Musgrove.”
Michelle said: “Winning this award means a great deal to me. I’m passionate about my role and the service we provide here at Musgrove, and I was very happy to be formally acknowledged for the work I do.
“I would also like to thank the team I work with and the managers on Triscombe Ward for their ongoing support.”
