Bridgwater College students visit scout camp
CHILDCARE students from Bridgwater College have visited a scout camp in Huish Woods.
The group, studying the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, took part in an overnight residential at the Huish Woods Scout Camp, near Taunton.
The students took part in a variety of sessions led by the Bridgwater College Forest School staff.
The experience provided students with the chance to learn new practical outdoor activities from the staff.
Lydia Buncombe, senior work placement coordinator at Bridgwater College, said: “The students took part in tasks such as den building, jewellery making, a natural treasure hunt and the adrenaline junkies in the group went on the zip wire.
“They also cooked their own meal in the evening which was followed by singing around the camp fire.
“The residential was not only beneficial for the students’ course, but it was also a fantastic opportunity for team building.”
