High standard of public speaking at Haygrove School

STUDENTS from Haygrove School tested their skills in a public speaking competition.
The Year 8 students packed into the school hall to witness what head teacher Karen Canham later described as the best public speaking competition yet.
She said: “Certainly the standard was excellent, with the champions of each Year 8 tutor group representing their class brilliantly.”
The competitors spent the morning preparing for the big final, supported by several teachers from the English department.
The children’s speeches were judged by teachers and year heads before the champions from 8Q were announced as Jade Hooper and Olivia Shorthouse.
