MP welcomes woodland report

BURNHAM and Highbridge MP Tessa Munt has welcomed an independent report which suggests more of the nation's woodlands should belong to the public and not be sold off to private firms.

Ms Munt, who opposed the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' plans last year to sell off swathes of Forestry Commission woodlands, said: “It is vital that governments look beyond the simple economic value of assets like forests and woodlands. Nature has a value in itself.”
