KIND pupils at Chard School raised both a significant sum and some suitable smiles for charity with two donations.

Doreen Toms, treasurer of the Chard and Ilminster group for Children’s Hospice South West was presented with a cheque for £138.07 at a school assembly by head teacher Jane Bruce on Monday, July 2.

The fundraising came from cakes at break sales, when children took part in the charity’s Raise a Smile week in May, dedicated to raising awareness of the hospices, and making people smile. Pupils went the extra mile by making smiley face plates which were also donated to the charity.
