A PARTY of 30 Germans from Burnham's twin town of Fritzlar are visiting the area this week.

They arrived on Saturday, and were treated to a civic reception by Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Ken Smout in the town council chambers.

Cllr Smout told the Weekly News: “When the Germans arrived, they were treated like returning family members by their Burnham host families.

“They have been coming here for many years now and have built up very strong friendships with people in Burnham, who also make return trips to Germany.”

The group from Fritzlar are due to leave the UK tomorrow.
