SOMERSET College in Taunton has been awarded an internationally recognised standard for the environmental management of businesses.

Auditors spent two days reviewing the college before awarding it the IS0 14001 certification – a rare achievement for a first time bid.

Since 2008 the College has saved 56 tonnes of electricity, 47 tonnes of gas and 0.38 tonnes of water.

Principal Rachel Davies said: “We are delighted as our staff have worked extremely hard to improve and reduce our environmental impact, plus educating staff and students about what sustainability means and how it impacts on our lives.”

Well Done Gae, for winning your Green Award. Now hows about you go and achieve your people skills requirements, in order to treat your staff including the agency staff with some dignity and RESPECT!!!!
Congratulations of getting rid of a pregnant agency worker as well as all the other hard working agency staff you have dismissed over the last year!
Warning to anybody wishing to work for the cleaning team at the college Dont do it if you value your dignity!
