Debra Buller uses a puppet to demonstrate signing to young children
CLASSES designed to help young children and babies learn sign language in Taunton have been nominated for a top national award.
The Babies Can Sign and Tiny Signers group, held by mum Debra Buller, is in the running to win an award from parenting site netmums.com for the users’ favourite preschool class.
Debra, 42, who is deaf, said her ten-week class will go through to the final national vote with the winners being announced on June 21.
She said: “Parents tell me our class is the highlight of their child’s week, so it’s exciting to be recognised in this way. I’d love for us to win the award and show we really are something special.”
Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said: “All the evidence shows fun pre-school activities help kids blossom and give parents fun time.”
Voting is open until June 17 – go to www.netmums.com/local_to_you/places-to-go/preschool-classes/vote-for-your-favourite-preschool-class.
The Babies Can Sign course (0-2yrs) runs from Holway School Family Drop-in Room, Shakespeare Avenue, on Thursdays from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
Tiny Signers Drop-in Sessions (first session free, £3.50 per family thereafter, suitable for 0-5yrs) are on Thursdays from 10am to 11am.

On the story, I'm confused - the title mentions Stogursey, where does this relate to the scheme in Taunton?!
