A CHARD cleaner has made herself highly visible through the town this week . . . by dying her hair blue!

Tracy Dyer, 43, of Bubwith Close, who works at the Phoenix Hotel, and her son, Damon, a 17-year-old Lufton College student, had their hair dyed blue by Karenza’s Hair Studio in Fore Street, Chard, last Tuesday.

It is all to raise funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Charity after Tracy’s dad, Mervyn Curtis, was diagnosed with the disease 2½ years ago.

Mervyn has since received the all-clear.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK with 37,000 diagnosed every year and one man dying from the disease every hour.

So far, Tracy and Damon have raised a total of £310, helped by a raffle at the Phoenix Hotel, to which a number of businesses donated prizes, but it is hoped that money will continue to roll in through the month.

Tracy said: “We decided to raise money for the charity because we’ve seen the support which goes into it.

“The radiotherapy which people have to go through is not cheap.

“As for the blue hair, I’ll be like this until the end of June, so you can’t miss me!”

If you would like to support Tracy, a sponsorship form is available at Karenza’s Hair Studio.
