A PENSIONER from Bridgwater wants to share with Mercury readers her photos of the Queen’s visit to the town 25 years ago.

Beryl Kett, aged 86, from Danesboro Road, stood among the crowd to catch a glimpse of Her Royal Highness, who unveiled a plaque marking her visit on May 8, 1987.

Beryl said: “It was a day I will remember all my life.

“My grandson, Gavin, was six at the time. A policeman let him past to take the Queen some flowers. Gavin spoke with the Queen for some time. She was really nice.

“It was a lovely day and the troops marched down the high street past the Mercury.

“It really was the most wonderful day – the sun was shining and it was just beautiful.”
