DETAILS of the latest set of family history courses running in Chard have been released this week.
Somerset Skills and Learning are offering the opportunity at the Boden Centre starting in March, with day courses running from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch.
A two day beginner course – Getting Back to 1837, starts next Thursday, March 1, with a second session on Thursday, March 8, looking at birth, death and marriage certificates and the census.
Pre 1837 records can then be researched on Friday, April 27, and Friday, May 4, looking at parish records, poor law, wills and probate, maps and old photos.
Finally, there is an advanced organising, writing up and presenting course planned for Saturday, March 17 and Saturday, April 21 - for those who have researched their family for some time and want to sort out their material.
Tea and coffee are on offer on each day, and visitors are advised to bring a packed lunch. For more information on these and other courses call Rose at the Boden Centre on 01460-63900.
