A Bridgwater building firm has scooped a prestigious title at Somerset awards ceremony.

Pollard was crowned winner amongst winners at the Somerset West Local Authority Building Control's Building Excellence Awards 2011 for a second time.

The building contractor took the honour last year for its work on the Bridgwater YMCA multi-use centre and was recognised this year for its work on the £multi-million restoration and development of the Museum of Somerset in Taunton.

More than 170 guests from the property and construction industry gathered for the ceremony.

The judging panel said: “The renovation and extension of the museum is well thought out, well constructed and has been well managed from the outset.

“The project excels in achieving accessible accommodation with efficient services while meeting the needs of the public and sensitivity of the historic building.”

Managing director Bill Badham said: “We are extremely proud to have receive this prestigious award. To be recognised as winner amongst winners for the second consecutive year is testament to the quality of the service we provide and the skill of our staff.”
