FAMILIES in Bridgwater can make a splash this October half-term - thanks to a forward-thinking campaign group.

Bridgwater Forward has organised a bus trip to Brean Splash Waterpark on October 28 for a fun-filled swimming day out.

The bus will depart from the former Sedgemoor Splash car park in Northgate at 10am and will return to Bridgwater after the session at 2pm.

District and town councillor Ian Tucker and campaign group member Linda Brigg have been at the forefront of the scheme and believe the trip will provide a welcome opportunity for children and their parents for a fun day of swimming.

Cllr Tucker said: “Thanks to WebberBus, which has provided the bus for free, and Brean Splash, we will be providing families in Bridgwater the chance to have a swim this half-term.

“We have been without a swimming pool in Bridgwater for more than two years now, and this could become a regular thing if it proves to be popular.

“It is of paramount importance Bridgwater has a swimming pool, but it's still over a year away.”

Mrs Brigg added: “I am a former disabled group member of the Splash and I dearly miss it. I relied on it, it eased my pain.

“That's why I support Bridgwater Forward as we are trying to keep leisure in Bridgwater.”

There will be an optional hallowe'en theme on the day and up to 68 spaces are available on the bus.

Admission is £3 and only families are eligible for the day. For more information and to book your place, contact Linda Brigg on 01278-453246.
