CROWDS packed into Highbridge Community Hall on Saturday for the annual prestigious Highbridge in Bloom awards presentation night.

Deputy Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Ken Smouth and his wife Janet presented the prizes for the children's painting competition, while prizes for the best gardens competition were presented by Sedgemoor District Council vice-chairman Cllr Peter Downing.

South-West in Bloom judge Tony Moore presented the It's Your Neighbourhood certificates to Friends of Apex Park, Friends of Fairdean Road and Clover Way, General Higgins House, Southwell Crescent Residents, and the Morland Residents' Association.

Mr Moore also presented the South-West in Bloom chairman's discretionary award certificate and trophy for Highbridge station to Peter Ernest, on behalf of Severnsidetrack.

Russell Chedzoy of Bay Tree Upholstery was awarded the Highbridge Chamber of Trade and Commerce trophy for the best commercial display and the Mayor's Cup was awarded to Highbridge Dreamscheme.
