Cornwall Air Ambulance’s flagship fundraising shop has been officially reopened in Truro after a full refit was completed in just two weeks.

Trustees, staff and volunteers were on hand to celebrate its reopening on King Street.

Retail manager Julie Burley oversaw the refit, which has brought a fresh, contemporary look to the store.

Chief executive of Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, Paula Martin, said: “The new Truro shop, which was refitted on a very tight budget, is absolutely stunning and will undoubtedly help with improving sales.

“We have worked really hard to encourage high quality donations and we are asking the public to think of giving to this local Cornish charity first when they next have a bagful of items.”

The shop has a changing area for trying on clothes, a dedicated children’s section, new Cornwall Air Ambulance merchandise as well as the usual donated books, clothes, shoes and furnishings.

Retail manager for the trust, Julie Burley, said: “Retail is a huge part of our fundraising efforts during the year and we couldn’t do it without our fantastic army of volunteers who help out in running the shops.

“Joining the volunteer team in Truro is easy – just pick up an information pack in store.”

The trust is also hoping that the store will appeal to holidaymakers, giving visitors an opportunity to support the work of the air ambulance.

The Truro outlet is one of six Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust charity shops in the county. They help to raise the £1.5 million needed each year to operate the helicopter, which during this busy time of year flies up to five missions each day.
