Call to help save bees in crisis

PEOPLE in Burnham are being called on to do their bit to save Britain’s bees.

Ivor Davis, past President of the British Beekeepers’ Association, recently gave a talk to Burnham’s University of the third age at the town’s community centre.

He told the group about the history of Honey Bees and how they have come to be in crisis.

Kath Hoyland from the group said: “The huge increase in the number of deaths of honey bees is something that affects us all, Ivor told us about one third of everything we eat depends upon honey bee pollination.”

Ivor told the group the misuse of pesticides appear to be causing the deaths of colonies all over the world.
