An elderly woman has died in a car crash near Truro.
The 76-year-old was a passenger in a silver Peugeot 307, being driven by a man in his 70s.
Both are believed to be from the St Austell area.
The car crashed on the A39 at Trispen just before 12.15pm today.
No other vehicles were involved.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man has been treated for shock at Truro's Royal Cornwall Hospital.
The road has been closed at Carland Cross, at the junction between the A30 and A39 junction and south of Trispen, with a local diversion put in place.
The road is still closed as police carry out an investigation.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with information that may help the investigation to contact them on 08452 777444 quoting log 410 4/6/11
