Farmers have been warned to be extra vigilant following six sheep being attacked in the Truro area.
Police have today appealed for information about the attack, which is believed to have taken place on a farm at Three Burrows at around 10.30am on Monday.
The farmer heard a dog barking nearby and on checking the welfare of his sheep, found six of them had been severely attacked and needed urgent medical attention.
A police spokesman said a local vet had described the attack was severe and warned that in their professional opinion two large dogs made the attack, adding that when they attacked in this way the likelihood of the animal repeating an attack was high.
“This attack, understandably, has caused extreme distress to the owners who along with police are appealing for extra vigilance in the area,” added the spokesman. Anyone who has any information regarding this or similar incidents in the area has been asked to contact police on 08452 777444, ref 335/16/05/11.
