YEOVIL town centre has received a major boost today with news that major fashion retailer Republic is to open in the Quedam Shopping Centre later this year.

The deal will see Republic occupy a large new store created by combining the former Officers Club and units in the Quedam Centre.

It is understood that building works are already underway and will take around 12 weeks in total. If all goes to plan the new Republic store - Yeovil’s most significant fashion retailing addition for some time - could be open in late summer.

Quedam manager David Mills said: “More details will be announced over the coming weeks, but obviously the Republic deal is a major boost for Yeovil and the Quedam Centre.

“We have had a very encouraging start to 2011, with customer numbers up being consistently up on the same months in 2010, but this news about the Republic deal is the icing on the cake.”

Mr Mills added: “They will be a great addition to the Quedam and Yeovil.”
