BURNHAM'S recently demolished boating pool has inspired a new film which will be shown in the town next week.

Local students Alec Cochran and Jake Morgan star in 'For All Our Tomorrows', which was given special permission to feature archive footage of the First World War from the Imperial War Museum collection.

In the short drama, Alec and Jake's characters, whose only experience of war is through video games, suddenly find themselves face-to-face with the reality of conflict.

The story is set around the former seafront paddling and boating pool, which was donated to Burnham by the Braithwaite family in the 1920s after their five sons returned home from battle safely.

It was filmed before the landmark was bulldozed last March on health and safety grounds.

The film will be shown at the Princess Hall next Saturday (April 16) from 7.30pm at a movie festival where archive footage of Burnham from the Norman Gobey collection will also be played.

The collection includes 'Our Civilian Army', a recruitment film made for the Home Guard, and recently discovered footage of the town's fundraising efforts for the Spitfire Fund during the Second World War.

Also on the bill is a short documentary about East Brent's Harvest Home by Liz Brown, and 'Can You Teach a Worm a Tango' and 'The Apothecary', which both won accolades at the First Light Media Awards in March.

Entry on the night costs £3 with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and refreshments will be provided by the Churchfield Primary School PTFA.
