The doors of Truro’s County Hall were thrown open to reveal the world behind Cornwall Council to primary school pupils from St Columb.

Youngsters from St Columb Major Primary School were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the workings of the council by chairman Pat Harvey.

She welcomed 13 pupils aged between six and 11, who were all members of the school council and had asked if it would be possible to visit and see firsthand how a real council works.

Mrs Harvey said: “I was delighted to welcome the young pupils to County Hall so that they could have a look around, meet officers and councillors, see how the council works and the interaction between all departments.

“I hope that they enjoyed their visit and, who knows, some may even become Cornwall Councillors in the future!”
