Former pupils and staff of the former Truro Secondary School for Boys are being invited to attend a reunion later this month.

The invite is also open to pupils of the Cornwall Central Technical School that occupied the building in Union Place before the Second World War.

Organisers of the reunion are looking for photographs of the school and former classes to create a display during the event on March 23, and to form the basis of a permanent archive of the former school.

As well as meeting old friends there will be the chance to tour the refurbished building. Refreshments will be provided and tickets are available at £4 to cover costs.

Space is limited and anyone interested in attending should email Dean Evans at dean.evans5@gmail.com or call 07588 711936. These are the same contact details for anyone who has photographs that they can lend for the event.

Designed by Cornish architect Silvanus Trevail and funded by a bequest from Passmore Edwards, the Cornwall Central Technical School was opened in 1899, adjacent to the Passmore Edwards Library.

Originally this was a day school for boys and girls but later became the Truro Secondary School for Boys.

The school closed in the late 1970s and the building has since been incorporated into the adjacent library. A major refurbishment of the library was completed last year, when it was reopened as the Truro Community Library.

The reunion is one of many being organised across Cornwall and the south of England this year, to mark the centenary of the death of Passmore Edwards.
