POLICE in Taunton are appealing for witnesses after a man was racially abused in Taunton on Sunday morning.
The victim had parked his car outside the Perkin Warbeck pub in East Street when he was abused by a man who had come out of the McDonalds restaurant opposite at about 8.30am.
The suspect then walked away towards the town centre past Marks and Spencer.
He is white, in his mid 40s, of slim to medium build with short, dark receding hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a plain dark T-shirt.
He went into McDonalds at around 8.10am and ate at a table near the tills on the right.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who can identify the man is asked to contact Taunton police on 0845-4567000.
Officers particularly want to talk to a man in dark clothing who crossed the road on a pedestrian crossing and who walked past the victim at the time.
There were also other customers in McDonalds who may have seen what happened.
