A NEW childminding service has been launched in Chard and is looking to help out parents in the area.

Registered childminder Ann Killeen has started her See Saw Childcare service, based at her home in Redstart Road.

Ann set up the business at the start of January and is hoping more families register an interest in the service.

The business was formed just as the Somerset Childminding Network, with which See Saw is registered, expressed a need for more childminding services in the town.

Ann said: “The early years support officer has been working with me quite closely and has said there is a definite need for a full time childminder in Chard. There is also a need for a childminding network in the future.”

The See Saw service caters for children from birth to 11 years old, providing before and after school care, assistance in school holidays and hot meals can be provided.

The service is registered with OFSTED and will run all year round, except bank holidays, with hours between 7.30am and 6pm and more hours available by arrangement.

Ann added: “I decided to open the business because I wanted Chard to have the best and development possible and this is something that can cater for parents’ needs as well.”

Ann has lived in Chard for around 25 years and has previously managed an early years centre in the town. Before that she worked at the Honeycomb private nursery.
