Sharp’s Brewery is to be taken over by a multi-national drinks firm as part of a £20 million deal.
It has been bought out by Molson Coors, which distributes the Doom Bar ale that Sharp’s produces at its brewery in Rock.
The company has said it will keep the brewery, which produces 75,000 barrels a year and employs 80 people.
A spokesperson for Molson Coors said it was “100 per cent committed to real ale and cask beer at Rock,” adding that the deal could result in the brewery being expanded.
Stuart Howe, head brewer at Sharp's, said the team was “delighted” with Molson Coors.
Sharp's also produces ales inspired by chef Rick Stein’s late dog Chalky, in the form of Chalky's Bark and Chalky's Bite.
