Ten students from a Truro school are due to ‘pass out’ following a week’s training at the city’s fire station.
The students from Pencalenick School, who all have difficulty learning and communicating, will have taken part in the Phoenix Project, which has been run by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service since 2002 to boost young people’s self-confidence, communication skills and community spirit.
To gain their certificates students are given training in using hosepipes, marching, wearing breathing equipment and problem solving.
The Pencalenick students will have their hard work recognised in a ceremony at the station next Friday, February 4.
