Preparations are underway for Truro’s City of Lights procession tonight to kick-start the city’s Christmas festivities.
From 7pm, handmade withy and tissue lanterns will be floating through the streets, this year carrying a myths and legends theme, before the Christmas lights are switched on in Boscawen Street.
Contemporary crafts students at University College Falmouth have spent two weeks creating lanterns for the procession and have been going back and forth from Tremough Campus to Truro in preparation today. Among their creations are the sea creature Kraken, the Jabberwocky from Alice in Wonderland and the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
