STAFF treating hepatits C patients at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital have been named one of the top three acute hospital teams nationwide.
After topping the South-West excellence awards, they have been shortlisted in the final three for the NHS National Health and Social Care Awards in Acute Care.
They have been recognised for focussing on developing treatment that caters for individual patient needs, leading to shorter waiting times, reduced treatment length, a better all-round experience and excellent recovery rates that are the best in the region.
Team leader, consultant gastro intestinal physician Dr Stirling Pugh, said: “Being treated for Hepatitis C is a difficult process for patients and being able to reduce the time it takes and to still achieve safe and effective treatment has significant benefits for our patients.”
