Truro and Penwith College hosted a celebration evening for staff at 150 different businesses who have done courses at the college.

Employers witnessed a number of staff receive certificates for a variety of work based qualifications achieved through the college. Special awards were also presented for business of the year, apprentice of the year and student of the year.

New principal David Walrond presented the certificates.

He said: “It is a great pleasure to see our students receive their qualifications after all their hard work. By the very nature of the courses run by our business centre, students are studying whilst in employment and often alongside very demanding home lives, which makes their achievements all the more impressive. We wish them all every success in the future. ”

Ann’s Cottage Surf won business of year while 17-year-old Jake Akeroyd, who works at Trethem Mill was awarded apprentice of the year and Arwen Folkes took home the award for student of the year.
