Olympic sailor Joe Glanfield is visiting Penair School on Wednesday as part of a new programme inspiring children to reach their potential.

The Be the Best You Can Be school based programme is being led by 21st Century Legacy, a new charity founded and led by Olympian David Hemery CBE. The aim of the programme is to help inspire young people to be the best they can be. Joe Glanfield, with team mate Nick Rogers, has competed in the 470 class at three Olympic Games. He finished fourth in the Sydney 2000 Games before winning a silver medal at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

Dr Barbara Vann, headteacher at Penair School, said. “I was determined that Penair would be among the first in line as the Be the Best You Can Be begins to roll out.

“We were delighted to welcome David Hemery to Penair School earlier in the month and next week’s visit of Joe Glanfield on Wednesday will be a great focus for our work.”
