Ferne Family Fun day enjoys "best ever" year

A FUN family fundraiser near Chard enjoyed its “best ever” year this week.

The Ferne Family Fun Day was held at Ferne Animal sanctuary on Wednesday from 11am to 4pm and spurred on by the sunshine, drew in impressive crowds.

The event was in its fourth year and raised money for the sanctuary, with attractions including the ever popular teacups and a bouncy castle, as well as a tombola and the chance to see the animals being fed.

But it was also a launch for the animal sanctuary’s new sponsorship scheme, which hopes to raise more funds to care for the animals.

Jenny Wheadon, sanctuary director said: “Today has been wonderful. We have been so lucky with the weather and people have come out to support us in their droves which has been absolutely brilliant.”

Nicola Davidson, marketing and fundraising officer said: “This has been our best year yet. We have been very busy but it’s good to see so many people coming to support the work we do here.”

The sponsorship scheme, which offers the chance to sponsor a range of animals from £10, including horses, rabbits, chipmunks, chinchillas and more, was proving very popular with visitors.

Nicola added: “The scheme gives people the opportunity to sponsor an animal without having to give it a home. It gives people the chance to care for an animal without the extra expense in the difficult economic climate.”

People can sponsor an animal by calling 01460-261615 or by going to following the link below.
