GREEN-FINGERED enthusiasts were rewarded on Saturday when the Chard 2000 group held its awards presentation for winners in its annual garden competition.
Chard Mayor Cllr Jill Shortland was on hand to present the certificates and congratulated everyone on doing their bit to make the town more attractive during the ceremony at Chard Garden Centre.
Results were as follows: large garden – gold, Pauline Wright, silver gilt, Pat Ambrose, silver, Ros and Richard Roderigo; small garden – gold, Paul and Barbara Blackburn, silver gilt, Susan Brazier, silver, Rita Poole; vegetable garden – gold, Mr D. Clarke, silver gilt, Tony Prior, silver, Mr and Mrs Roger Galpin; patio/hanging garden – gold, Mr and Mrs Tony Pike, silver gilt, Yvonne Jennings, silver, Mrs G. Hall.
The Chard in Bloom group, meanwhile, has announced that a number of gardens will be open to the public on Saturday, July 31.
The gardens at Chard Museum will be open from 10.30am to 1pm, while those at Chard School, Clare House and the Laurel Centre will be open from 10am to 1pm.
Refreshments will be available at the Laurel Centre.
