A HIGHBRIDGE performing arts group will benefit from a new funding scheme encouraging children to 'Give It A Go'.

Curtain Call School of Performing Arts has been added onto the new project, devised by Somerset County Council, aimed at enabling children to pursue out of school activities.

Any child aged from five to 17, who is still at school and receiving free school meals or in care, can now access Give It A Go funding to attend Curtain Call's classes.

Patricia Ham, principal of the Curtain Call, told the Weekly News: “This a fantastic opportunity for children who have been bitten by the bug to take part in some of our performing arts classes.

“When we moved to Highbridge I wanted to bring the world of the theatre to the community and now this scheme has enabled us to encourage children who might not otherwise have the chance to sing, act or dance.”

The performing arts group, based at The Old Creamery in Huntspill Road, offers a range of classes from musical theatre to ballet and street dance.
