TV presenter Nick Knowles was today hailed a hero after pulling a car-crash victim from wreckage - eight months after he rescued a mum and baby from a smash in Taunton.

The telly favourite reportedly sprang into action after he saw a silver Ford Ka spin out of control, hit a barrier and roll three times, landing upside down on the M4.

He pulled his vehicle on to the hard shoulder and ran to the scene where he saw a man’s body half sticking out of the driver’s side window.

Mr Knowles, who was on his way to Bristol after filming an episode of DIY SOS in Chippenham, Wiltshire, rushed to the young man's aid and pulled him to safety.

In September of last year Nick and Taunton engineer Simon Durden sprang into action to rescue Claire Williams and her ten-week-old baby, Alexandra, from their overturned car near Norton Fitzwarren.
