Table Tennis: Bradford Girls' Grammar School pupil Heather Shutt has been selected to make her debut for England under-12s in Bethune, France from November 1-6.

When she was seven Heather joined Bradford's Table Tennis Development Team, who trained at Bradford Girls' Grammar School and Oakbank School.

She showed a lot of potential, and a year later won the city's Stars of Tomorrow Championship.

Last season, when she was ten, heather really caught the attention of the England selectors by winning the Cleveland and West Yorkshire under-11 singles titles.

And she went on to win a silver medal at the English Schools' Under-11 Champion-ships, following that with another silver at the English National Under-Ten Championships.

Heather has worked hard each week at Bradford Girls' Grammar School and Oak-bank City Development Scheme.

Her strength lies in her forehand and backhand topspin attacking shot, and Heather's attitude makes her easy to coach.

She pays attention to detail, is very determined and has just received a butterfly equipment sponsorship by Tees Sport. Heather's mother Sally played for England Juniors in 1978.

Nicola White, formerly Bradford Girls' Grammar school, has also received an international call-up. Her efforts to step up from under-12 to under-14 level have paid off as she has been selected for the England team to play in the Slovak Junior Open in Bratislava from November 5-7.
