Chard'S Mayor, John Malcolm, opened the town Tennis Club's new courts last Tuesday evening (June 18) in front of an audience of 60 who dodged the rain to make the event.
He praised the efforts of the club, who have worked hard to further tennis in Chard, where over 50 youngsters have attended the club's events so far this year.
The Mayor also handed over a certificate to the club, which was awarded £4,900 from Lottery Sport for All, to be used for coaching at all levels, including juniors, new starters, anyone wishing to improve their game and club members.
