SOMERSET Social Services launches a campaign on Monday to recruit 90 new foster carers by April next year.
The drive will be marked by 90 youngsters releasing balloons at Greenfylde First School, Ilminster, and holding up letters spelling out, 'Help A Child To Thrive'.
Head of children's services David Taylor said: "Foster carers have a vital part to play in helping children to thrive. We need to recruit more, in order to match children with local foster carers.
In the county, on any day, there are about 320 children being cared for by the Social Services Department, with about three-quarters placed with foster carers.
