Pub giant Enterprise Inns, who are increasing their estate in the South West, have bought their second pub in recent weeks from licensed property agent, Bettesworths.

The pub company has just acquired the Bullers Arms, an attractive fully licensed coaching house in Chagford, on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. Within the past month, Bettesworths have also sold the Kestor Inn, on Dartmoor, to Enterprise Inns.

The Bullers Arms will meet the company's criteria perfectly, being a popular locals' pub with a reputation for good food both in the bar and restaurant.

The inn was originally known as the Bakers Arms until the South African Boar War when the name was changed at the turn of the century in honour of General Buller VC who was Devon born. It has been owned and operated in recent years by Steve and Sheila Luxton who are planning to take a break from the trade before buying another business.

The Bullers Arms enjoys an excellent all-year-round trade and a healthy turnover and profit. It comprises an open-plan lounge bar, a fully-equipped commercial kitchen, a refurbished restaurant with covers for 30, an exterior courtyard with barbecue area, three new en-suite letting rooms, fitted out to a very high standard, and owners' accommodation with three bedrooms, large, open-plan lounge and kitchen.

The freehold was sold by Bettesworths (01803 212021) in an "off market" transaction which took only four weeks from acceptance of offer to completion.
