The A&P Group are poised to re-open the former Cammell Laird yard at Birkenhead which has laid idle since the demise of Cammell Laird last year.
The yard will be one of three yards earmarked for the ship conversion market. Initially, in the short term, the group claim that it will concentrate on shiprepair and drydocking work. A&P's long term strategy for its Falmouth, Birkenhead and Tyne facilities is to target the ship conversion market.
