The Jubilee weekend got off to a flying start at the Ferry Boat Inn when regulars at the riverside pub were surprised to see a group of local rowers doing anything but relaxing!

The 10 rowers from Falmouth Greenbank Rowing Club were on a mission to row 100 miles on three "ergo" (rowing) machines with the aim of raising as much cash as possible for the rowing club and for the RNLI.

The distance was selected to coincide with the annual Helford to L'Aber-wrac'h, Brittany, race where many different types of boat race between the two areas.

The gruelling task took 3 hours and 45 minutes using the three machines. This makes a total of an astonishing 11 hours and 15 minutes!

The event is expected to have raised over £400 (with £370 collected already and more sponsorship cash still coming in).

All sponsorship monies will be split 50/50 between the rowing club and RNLI.
