A MARQUEE worth more than £500 was stolen from Taunton Racecourse at the weekend.

The 30ft by 20ft structure is white with a yellow trim and police say it would have taken two or three people several hours to dismantle and needed a trailer or van to take it away.

The marquee was by the racecourse's main entrance and removed between 3.30pm on Friday and 12pm Saturday.

If anyone saw the marquee being taken down, or has any information on its whereabouts, they are asked to contact DC Viv Lewis at Taunton Police on 01823-363256.

A pair of Indian game birds were stolen from their home in Hatch Beauchamp between midnight on Sunday and 8am Monday. The birds, one male one female, were removed from their garden pen and are worth £25 each.

A home in Eastleigh Road, Taunton was burgled on Monday. Forced entry was gained via the rear kitchen window at around 1.30pm.

A TEAC midi hi-fi 80 CD's and power tools were stolen.

BMX bikes worth almost £600 were taken from a shed in Warwick Road, Taunton, last week.

The padlock to the shed was forced overnight between Thursday and Friday.

Stolen were a child's white Mongoose Sniper valued £170 and a gent's black Wethepeople Airwin worth £400.
