TWO men convicted of an armed raid on Watchet Post Office last October have been jailed at Bristol Crown Court.
Darren Bates, 29, and Stuart Henderson, 23, from Birmingham, escaped with £27,000 from the Swain Street business after holding up staff at gunpoint.
Bates received an 11-year sentence, and Henderson seven.
They committed a string of offences, mainly in the Bristol area, including street robberies, a kidnapping, firearms-related offences and seven armed robberies, one a raid at knifepoint on Watchet Londis supermarket.
The post office raid involved a 13-mile police chase, which ended when the burnt out remains of the getaway car - a stolen high-powered Saab convertible - were found at Luccombe, near Porlock.
