Mawgan's feast week was a huge success and enjoyed by all despite the bad weather.

The week of events in Mawgan began with a thanksgiving service at the war memorial on Sunday evening, lead by Barry Browning, after which everyone enjoyed a concert by Gweek Band in the recreation hall.

Festivities continued on Monday with a concert at Mawgan Church by St Keverne Male voice choir.

The children of the parish got involved on Tuesday when they all gathered to enjoy a magician and their own special feast.

Kay Hoskin, a member of the village hall committee, said: "The children thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment, they were really quite engrossed."

Unfortunately the sports planned for the children had to be cancelled because of the weather.

On Tuesday night the Old Court House held a "Play your cards right" night, raising £41 for the Helston Cottage Hospital and air ambulance.

There was a quiz and raffle on Wednesday night at the recreation hall with proceeds going towards Mawgan Church and the air ambulance.

Residents in the parish of Mawgan-in-Meneage aired their views at a Planning for Real event held at the recreation hall on Thursday.

Topics ranging from housing and education to transport and the environment were discussed at the event, which was organised by the parish council in conjunction with Cornwall Rural Community Council.

Those who attended were invited to put their ideas on a model map of the village created by pupils from Garras School.

Feedback from the public consultation event will be used to draw up a plan of action for the parish.

On Friday night everyone enjoyed a pasty feast and bingo at the recreation hall before the fair on Saturday.

There was a car boot sale, raffle, ferret racing, a host of vehicles, from an old-fashioned fire engine to a variety of stationary engines, and music by Cober Valley accordian band.

Unfortunately spirits were dampened by the weather but the band played on in the hall and everyone continued to enjoy themselves.
