The remaining members of the Duchy Far-East Prisoners of War Association laid up their Standard.
As all the members are in their 80s it is no longer possible for them to parade and they decided to lay the Standard at the Truro branch of the Royal British Legion.
This is an unusual choice as Standards are normally displayed in a church - however as the remaining members and widows of their comrades still meet monthly in the RBL, it was thought appropriate to display the standard where they could see it each month.
The Standard was dipped and after a two minutes silence followed by prayers, it was raised to the call of Reveille, sounded by Bugler Bill Bishop.
It was then handed to association secretary Ralph Farmer who put it into the charge of the chaplain.
The Standard of the Duchy Far East POW Association now proudly hangs in full view at Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion.
